So I understand if you’re wondering what the heck the Priority Chef Dual Julienne and Vegetable Peeler has to do with blogging.
Well, sometimes creating a profitable blog has to take a back seat to the other things that a mom has to do – things like feeding the kids. And sometimes taking action means finding an easier way to do those things, so you have more time to spend on your business.
So when I got the opportunity to do a product review on an item that I thought could make mom’s lives a little easier…
Well, I jumped at the chance!
Priority Chef was kind enough to send me a julienne vegetable peeler to review. It showed up at the house two days after it shipped and was packaged very securely. The box is sturdy and should be great for storage, which is a good thing, as I’ll explain in a minute.
The Priority Chef julienne vegetable peeler is well-balanced, sturdy, and has some weight to it. The stainless steel looks great, and overall, it gives the impression of a well made kitchen tool.
I’ve never used this kind of peeler before – I’ve always had the old fashioned kind that you hold sideways. This style looks way more professional, like something Gordon Ramsay would use. And after using it, I’d say that it is an easier to use design.
And before we go any further — holy cow is this thing sharp! Now, this is a good thing, because it let us peel really fast and easy; it hardly took any pressure at all to slide the blade down the length of a zucchini, it was almost like cutting butter!
But – I can also see how this could be dangerous laying around, or tossed in a drawer with your other utensils. I’m pretty sure you could get a nasty cut if you grabbed it the wrong way by accident, and you want to keep it away from your little ones. So keep the box handy – don’t tear it up or toss it out; you’ll want to use it for long term storage.
We Start Peeling!
And it really peels well. It was so easy, just a pleasure to use. I could also see using the peeler to make thin slices of potato or other veggies for making chips. Right now, if I want to make slices, I have to get out my food processor, so this is an easier way to do a smaller amount.
Next, we moved on to the julienne, and again, the sharp blades made this task pretty easy. But, to be honest, it wasn’t as easy as using the Veggetti. With the Veggetti, we can do a lot of zucchini noodles really fast. so if I needed a larger portion for the whole family, I’d go with that. But if I’m just julienning some carrots to go on top of my salad, this is the quicker, easier to clean up option.
Because that’s another nice thing about the Priority Chef julienne vegetable peeler – clean up was really easy. Because it’s so sharp, I’d be very careful about wiping it off with your fingers – just a swish through soapy water then a rinse under the spigot should be enough. If it does get a piece of veggie caught in the blade, I’d recommend using a toothbrush to get it out, because seriously, I can’t stress enough how sharp this is!
What’s the Verdict?
The Priority Chef julienne vegetable peeler is a great kitchen tool for busy moms! Not only does it make peeling veggies quicker and easier, clean up is fast too. I usually hate peeling zucchini because of the softer texture; my old peeler would “catch” in the flesh, and I’d have to push hard with my thumb. This worked much better without as much “elbow grease” needed.
And another bonus – making fun julienne strings out of veggies is a great way to get kids to eat them. Make noodles from zucchini to use in place of spaghetti, and you’ll spend less time arguing with crying kids over eating their veggies.
