Do you know what landing pages are?
Technically a landing page is “the section of a website accessed by clicking a hyperlink on another web page, typically the website’s home page.”
In other words, when someone clicks a link to your blog from another site (say, a link in your comment on someone’s post), the page they “land on” is the landing page. Makes sense, right?
But here’s the cool part – you can create specific landing pages to optimize your blog.
For example, I have a landing page to send people to if I just want them to opt-in to my list. That’s a special type of landing page, called a “squeeze page” – it’s called that because I’m “squeezing” something out of them – namely, their email address.
And that’s kind of the key to a good landing page – its purpose is to direct people where you want them to go, or to do what you want them to do (just like my opt-in squeeze page directs people to join my email list).
If you want to know how to use landing pages to your advantage (more traffic! more subscribers!), I wrote a pretty in-depth article about landing page essentials over on the SITS Girls site. Rather than write it all again, I’m going to make things easy on all of us (ok, mainly easier for me) and just link it up right here –
Hope you find it super useful!
