I chose that name on purpose – it’s important to me. I believe with all my heart that taking consistent action is the key to success.
I know where I want to be in 3 months. I’ve set goals, made clear intentions. I know what I want to be doing and the results I will have. I write it down every day – I read it outloud.
It’s the ‘Law of Attraction’ – focus on what you want and those things will come to you.
When I first started, I focused on what I wanted even though I had no idea how I was going to get there – I just started taking action anyway.
I’m building my business through blogging, but the same thing applies no matter what your business is.
You can’t let a lack of knowledge, a lack of experience, or fear of the unknown keep you from getting started.
So I took action EVEN THOUGH I didn’t always know what I was doing.
And because I took action, I learned how to do the things I didn’t know. Sure, i learned stuff from videos, tutorials and asking questions, but I learned way more when –
I GOT OFF MY BUTT AND DID IT.
Because just sitting in front of the computer and believing I could do something wasn’t enough to make it happen.
I had to take action.
I saw this video that I wanted to share – what really spoke to me were his thoughts on “Law of Attraction VS. Taking Action” – and how the two things may seem like opposite ends of a spectrum, but are actually a ONE/TWO punch combination for making things happen.
Did you catch what he said at 0:53?
But he also mentions that some studies have shown that focusing on mindset, and doing 1 hour of what he calls “inner action” is worth doing 7 hours of “outer action”. So if you’re trying to improve a skill, that means visualization and meditation are just as important as actual practice!
Taking action to make something happen is vital – but so is changing your mindset to believe it can be done.
Something I heard Will Smith say a while back has stuck with me for years. (Yes, I’m talking ’bout the Fresh Prince!) Will says that when he makes a decision to do something
“I’m going to do it. It’s already done. The second I decide it’s done, it’s already done. Now I just have to wait for all of you to see.”
That’s the way you have to be with all your goals! Make a DECISION to do it – whatever it is. And then start taking action. You have to see it in your mind’s eye as already finished.. and then take action to bring it into focus for the rest of the world.
Once you truly make a decision, and truly believe that the thing is done, there is nothing on earth that’ll stop you from achieving it. It may take time – maybe it will take years – but once you decide, it is fait accompli.
It really is that easy – just make the decision, then take action.
What decisions are you making?
What actions are you taking?
